Former MP accused of shooting Nonthaburi provincial chief

BANGKOK — 10 August 2026, police are investigating a shooting at the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organisation (PAO) office in Mueang Nonthaburi district, where its president, Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, was reported injured.

Initial reports identified the alleged gunman as Chalong Riewrang, a former Nonthaburi MP. Authorities had not confirmed further details, including the motive, at the time of publication.

Officers were examining the scene, gathering evidence and questioning witnesses to establish the sequence of events.

Thongchai is the president of the Nonthaburi PAO, the province’s elected local-administration body.
